Last year N00b Alert found out about the unique and amazing charity organization known as Extra Life. The principle is simple, video gamers all over can sign up for free, raise money (100% of which goes to your choice of a local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital) for children with cancer, and play video games for 24 hours.

Sure there are walkathons and such to raise money, but think about it. The organization behind those use part of the money they raise to block off streets, give water to people walking, etc. Gamers play from their house, with their friends, etc. There is no cost so literally 100% of the money goes to these hospitals that might save a child’s life.

This year Extra Life is going to be taking place on October 20th and we at N00b Alert are once again joining in on this amazing charity event. If this sounds like something you would like to participate in there are many different things you can do.

  1. Anyone can join Extra Life either with a group of friends by starting your own team or you can join Team N00b Alert here!
  2. You can donate your money easily through our team fundraising page found here.  Simply click on your favorite n00b that you would like to sponsor.
  3. Raise awareness! Tell your friends and see if maybe they want to join in on the action.
  4. Help keep us company and awake! We are going to be live streaming the event just like last year.  Join our Xbox Live games, hit us up on twitch, or try to destroy DroppinLoot in League of Legends.

I said it last year and I’ll say it again. All too often, both video games and gamers take the brunt of criticism and negative connotations  that come with the hobby.  We are described as lazy, childish, and selfish.  Now while this might actually be the case at times, it isn’t what defines us and what better way to show the world something positive that the gaming community can do,  then to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals around the United States.

Lets partner together to raise money for an amazing cause! Go Team Go!
