G4 announced Friday morning that it will be ceasing production on it’s 2 forefront shows the channel has ever had, X-Play & Attack of the Show, by the end of 2012. G4′s web site will also see a shakeup as a source says the entire staff at The Feed will be let go as well before Thanksgiving.

In a press release, G4 states that:

”Both shows will include original episodes through the end of the year, and will look back at their most memorable moments as we lead up to their final episodes.”

I am very sad to see the channel go the way of the dodo bird. I remember watching G4 for the first time when I got DirecTV back in early 2005. At that time, I didn’t know there was a channel that was solely dedicated to video games. Needless to say I was stoked. Cinematech, X-Play, Attack of the Show and others were all great during that time,. But around 2007-2008 they started to focus on other aspects that honestly didn’t really need any focus and I feel like they started to lose their fan base  Then you started to see the video game content that got them there start getting pushed back more and more and now it seems like a shell of it’s former self. When Adam Sessler left the channel earlier this year, I knew the channel wouldn’t last very long. Then Kevin Pereria left, and that all but confirmed my feelings that it wasn’t going to last very long and now here we are. Regardless of how I feel about the channel now, they gave me countless hours of entertainment that I will always appreciate. Thanks for the memories.
