With the upcoming release of Mortal Kombat (9 if you’re counting in the series) next week, Warner Brothers has decided to go ahead and release their new Mortal Kombat: Legacy live action series on the web. New episodes will be delivered each week and Machinima is hosting the episodes on youtube. It has some big names as part of the cast such as Michael Jai White (Spawn),playing Jax, and Jerri Ryan (Star Trek: Voyager), playing Sonya, so they aren’t lacking in the talent department. However, I think they’re lacking in the video game department.

I think it is OK for an action series produced for the web, but I don’t think it is Mortal Kombat apart from having the character’s names in it. There is a scene where Jax is fighting Kano and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to see Kano do a spinning ball charge at him, or for Jax to shoot two missiles out of his body. Oh well, I guess that’s the life of Video Games being made into Live Action.
