Wow.  Well it may have been their first annual loss ever, but Nintendo’s first annual loss was a doosey!  The company just posted that they had a loss of ~$460 million in 2011, with their net sales dropping ~36% in the year.

Don’t worry though.  The company is hopeful 2012 will being to change the tides for them.  They’ve boosted 3DS sales by lowering the price, and they expect to be able to stop selling it at a loss towards the end of the year.  They are also hanging high hopes on their Wii-U, an Asian launch of the 3DS, and their first party titles like the new Super Mario Bros. 2 and Animal Crossing.

Hey I’m wishing Nintendo the best!  I still believe they’re going take E3 by storm this year and really start spinning their hype machine.  I mean a good E3 showing, in what seems like it’s going to be a weak year, might be all it takes to restore the peoples faith in Nintendo.
