OnLive Sold But Isn’t Dead Yet

Cloud Gaming OnLive

OnLive, a streaming video game service has been struggling with its business model, but the rumors flying around the interwebs about them tanking is simply not true…at least not yet.  What is true though is that they have sold off their streaming assets to another company.

So you might be asking yourself, “What does that mean for me”?  Answer, absolutely nothing. A spokesperson from OnLive states that users will experience no interruption of services or product roll-outs.  Additionally, they plan to re-hire a large portion of their former employees.

While cloud-based gaming is the way of the future, I think it is certainly a few years away from becoming mainstream.  I do hope that OnLive can hold out until then because I’ve always been the one to route for the underdog, especially in an industry as crazy as the gaming industry.

If you are interested in OnLive, make sure to check them out. $10 a month nets you unlimited playing, on over 200 games, and you don’t have to be on your console to do it as you can play on your tablet, PC, etc.
